Video IM for Reference Services

I just read a post on Shifted Librarian about Ohio University’s Alden Library doing a pilot project on going beyond text IM for reference services and using video IM.  I viewed the slides from the ACRL presentation and it sounds interesting but I don’t really understand what the advantages are of having video versus text IM.  It seems video would be much more expensive to implement than plain old text.  Other than being able to read the body language of patrons, I don’t know what other benefits there are.  I’m still interested in the idea but I’m not sold.
